Chembra Peak: The hills, rocks and valleys which contribute to the very unique character of Wayanad provide a lot for adventure tourism. Trekking to the Chembra peak is a risky mountaineering endeavour. Chembra peak, the highest hill in Wayanad, is near Meppady town. Trekking to the top of this peak takes almost a day.

Edakkal Cave: This location of breathtaking beauty is three kilometres from Ambalavayal which is 25 kilometres from Kalpetta.

Kuruva Island: The Kuruva island, 950 acres of ever green forest on the tributaries of east flowing river Kabani, is an ideal picnic spot, far away from the disturbances of city life.

Soochippara Waterfalls: The waterfalls at Soochippara near Meppadi is really a treasure of nature, yet to be discovered. The stretches of waterfalls ranging at places from 100 to 300 feet height is a treat to the eyes.

Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary was formed in 1973 by carving areas out of the Wayanad and Kozhikode Territorial Divisions. A separate Wildlife Division, the Wayanad Wildlife Division was constituted in 1985. There are 13 Reserved Forests in this sanctuary.

2 N KOZHIKODE

Kozhikode Beach-The coastline extends to a length of 15 km. Two piers which are crumbling and the old lighthouse still stand recalling the times when foreign vessels used to anchor near Calicut. The Beach Hospital was built by the British.

Mananchira Square-This forms the heart of the city. The name comes from the large pool of clear water bound by laterite stone steps built by Manavedan Raja one of the earlier Zamorins.

Kappad Beach-Definitely a beautiful beach about 20 km from Calicut. Its historical importance stems from the fact that Vasco da Gama with his sailors landed here in 1498 in 3 ships.

Beypore – Located 10 km from Calicut, is this ship-building port of Beypore. It is also one of of the busiest fishing harbors in Kerala.

Thusharagiri Waterfalls For those who are lovers of Nature , a visit to Thusharagiri Waterfalls about 50 km away is gainful.
